Steps

1. Select competitors — Choose the competitors that actually contest the scope — direct rivals and credible challengers.
2. Define dimensions & weights — Set the dimensions that decide wins in this segment and weight them by how much they matter to buyers.
3. Gather comparable evidence — Assemble like-for-like evidence per dimension so scores rest on facts, not reputation.
4. Score the field — Rate each player per dimension and compute a weighted total for an at-a-glance standing.
5. Identify strengths & gaps — Separate durable advantages from exposed gaps, and note which are structural vs. closeable.
6. Strategic implications — Turn the gaps into a response — where to defend, where to invest, where to change the game.
